The 2017 NBA Champions, The Golden State Warriors today announced that they will forego visiting the White House as NBA Champions when they visit Washington early 2018.

It is customary for professional sports championship teams to visit the White House and meet with the President of the United States for a photo op, and also as a show of unity across lines of sports and politics.

President Trump tweeted that he was withdrawing the invitation for the Warriors to attend the White House after he got angry at the team's star player, Stephen Curry, for publicly stating that he had no interest attending the traditional gathering.

The Warriors issued a statement saying that; “disappointed that we did not have an opportunity during this process to share our views or have open dialogue on issues impacting our communities that we felt would be important to raise.”
