Washington, D.C. – CCAA is pleased to announce that the schedule for the 2018 Disaster Management Workshop Series (DMWS) has been finalized.

In the wake of the extraordinary destruction experienced in parts of the Caribbean during the 2017 hurricane season, this year’s workshops take on added urgency as the region moves towards the 2018 season and the very real concern that we may be entering a period of larger and stronger storms. With that in mind, this year’s Series will focus on “Business and Community Resiliency in the face of Natural Disasters” and will emphasize year-round stakeholder engagement.

The series will launch on April 24th in St. Vincent and will continue throughout the spring in Grenada, Montserrat, and Bermuda. The dates and locations for the 2018 DMWS are:
  • April 24th – St. Vincent
  • April 25th – Grenada
  • May 17th – Montserrat
  • June 6th – Bermuda
For 2018, series co-hosts Caribbean-Central American Action (CCAA) and Tropical Shipping will work alongside collaborating partners from the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA). As always, the workshops will be organized in collaboration with the national disaster management organizations, as well as with community-based private sector organizations, in each destination. (Note: CCAA will also be working with the CHTA on efforts specific to resilience within the tourism and hospitality industry; additional information will be forthcoming.)
