Caribbean immigrants as well as people from other parts of the world have richly contributed to the advancement of Canadian society. Canada is once again seeking to select its top 25 immigrants for 2014. Learn more about the process, how the final list of immigrants were selected and of course, cast your vote for who you wish to see in the final 25.

According to Canadian Immigrant website this is how the selection process was conducted:

Our Top 75 judging panel is chosen every year among past winners and esteemed contributors to the magazine. They are all at arms’-length of the magazine and judge independently.

At the end of the nomination phase, we have nearly 630 nominations, and each judge is given a separate batch of nomination forms that have already been reviewed by Canadian Immigrant editorial staff in our due diligence process to ensure accuracy.

Judges rate each nominee on a provided score card based on a set of criteria, which includes their achievements, how they have inspired others in Canada and the challenges they have overcome to do so.

Once each judge submits their rankings, all the rate cards are tabulated and the Top 75 shortlist are ranked, based on highest scores received. These are the 75 award candidates who are then profiled on canadianimmigrant.ca/rbctop25 for the voting phase of the program. Any votes which are the result of mechanical attempt to rig the votes (e.g. bots) will be disqualified.

Nominees have been placed into categories in order simplify the voting experience for the user. Top 25 finalists are not awarded by category, rather the Top 25 can be selected from any category and are not category-specific.

After the popular vote has concluded May 15th, 2014, the top final 25 will be selected by the judging panel and by popular vote. Popular vote will count for 50 per cent of the weight, while the Top 25 judging panel’s score will count towards the other 50 per cent.
