The Access Division has implemented a number of changes to the operations of the Ferry Service.
Effective immediately, the Ferry Day Tour service between Montserrat and Antigua on Thursdays has been changed to Fridays. The Division also stated that the departure time for the day tour service has also changed. The service will now leave Montserrat at 6:00a.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays, and will also leave at that time for the ‘Saturday Special Service’ during the March period.
Another new measure implemented on the Ferry Service is the provision of internet access. Ferry Travelers are now being provided with free WIFI service during their journeys between Montserrat and Antigua. Access Coordinator, Ashley Lindsey said, “This is all part of the division’s efforts to improve the standard of the service for our clients and we will continue to look at ways to meet the needs of the traveling public.”
To ensure the public is aware of the Ferry operating times, the Access Division has published an updated Ferry Schedule online. Mr. Lindsey said, “Customers will be able to book right up to September 2018 on the online booking system. We would like to encourage our customers to book in advance where possible as this will assist in making their journeys seamless.”
The Access Division is also informing the public of a change to the operations for Sunday, January 28, 2018. The Ferry Service will only be able to operate on Sunday morning from Montserrat to Antigua. There will be no Sunday evening return journey. The Access Division explained that this is due to the ferry needing a part replacement, which will be done in Antigua by a specialist. The ferry is scheduled to return on Monday evening, so customers who wish to use the service on Monday evening from Antigua to Montserrat are asked to please contact the ferry Agent in Antigua on 1-268-778-9786.
Note: The schedules and special services can be viewed at www.visitmontserrat.com and individuals can book their ferry journey at www.ferry.ms. Travelers are however reminded that check in begins 90 minutes before departure on all services.
