There are several regions in Peru where you can safely engage in regular tourist activities at the present time:
The south circuit, which includes Arequipa, Ayacucho, Cusco, Ica, Madre de Dios, Moquegua, Puno and Tacna.
The northeastern area that includes Amazonas, Loreto and San Martín.
The city of Lima and its main attractions.
These regions are all open for business as usual. Hotels, restaurants, tourist services, airports and access to main attractions are perfectly able to receive visitors.
Also, the Southern Pan-American Highway from Lima to Tacna is enabled, as indicated by the Superintendence of Land Transportation of People, Cargo and Goods (SUTRAN): http://www.mtc.gob.pe/
The access to tourist destinations in the North of Peru such as the Moche Route (La Libertad and Lambayeque), the beaches of Piura and Tumbes and the Ancash region, is temporarily affected by the rains and landslides. The Government is working with the citizens to assist victims, repair roads and prevent future incidents.
PROMPERÚ provides the i-Perú tourist information and assistance service which is available all over the country and can be accessed 24 hours a day via the e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org and the telephone number 574-8000.
