Disgraced "Empire" actor, Jussie Smollett, has today, been indicted by a grand jury in Chicago, USA, on 16 felony charges.

The 36-year-old actor's fall from grace comes after it was revealed that he allegedly lied to police about being the victim of a racist and homophobic attack.

Smollett claimed on Jan 29th that he was attacked by two masked men who poured what he thought to be bleach over him, and put a noose around his neck. Smollett had told police that he was assaulted at 2:00AM by the two men. He also claimed that he fought back, and that one of the attackers was white.

During February, Smollett was charged with felony disorderly conduct for the allegedly false report he made to the police in Chicago. Chicago Police alleged that Smollett paid the two men who he claimed attacked him, $3,500 to stage the attack.

Police said they had traced the two attackers using taxi and rideshare records, phone records, and surveillance cameras.

Both he and his lawyers have strongly denied these allegations.
