Having withdrawn his resignation from the Montserrat Community College (MCC) with an offer to return to teach students preparing for Mathematics and Physics examinations, Dr Samuel Joseph today announced the creation of a new charity to assist female victims of sexual abuse and sexual misconduct.

The charity, which is yet to be officially named, will be set up with funds from Dr Joseph making the decision to defer his salary to be received from his return to work at the MCC, to the charity.

According to a release sent to MNI Alive: Global Caribbean Media earlier today, Dr Joseph stated: "As promised, I will be donating my salary to charity. Papers are currently being drafted to establish a new non-profit organization to which I have pledged $20 000."

Dr Joseph further goes on to mention; "The basic aim of the organization will be to provide an atmosphere - both legal and social, where young girls feel safe to report abuse and sexual misconduct. A team of professionals including lawyers will provide assistance to these young girls. When all the paperwork is completed, hopefully by the end of April, a full statement will be made."

He went on to thank those who supported him during his recent impasse with the board of the MCC that led to his resignation last week with immediate effect.

Dr Joseph has assured MNI Alive more info will be presented to our media outlet about the charity once everything is finalised.
