Ecuador Exhibited its Tourism Wonders in London at World Travel Market 2018

(Quito, Pichincha 08-11-2018) Roses, chocolates, toquilla straw hats and traditional music captured the attention of hundreds of participants who attended the thirty-ninth edition of the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, which was held from the 5th until the 7th November.

At the opening ceremony, attended Carlos Abad, Ambassador of Ecuador in London; José Luis Egas, Undersecretary of Markets, Investments and International Relations of the Ministry of Tourism; Verónica Sevilla, General Manager of Quito Turismo; Tania Sarmiento, Director of the Municipal Tourism Foundation for Cuenca; and, Camila Morales, representative of the Municipal Public Company of Tourism of Guayaquil.

During the fair WTM London 2018, the senior representative of the Ecuadorian Ministry of Tourism participated in the 12th UNWTO & WTM Minister´s Summit organized by the World Tourism Organization and the World Travel Market. At this meeting, issues of safety and advances in tourism were addressed, under the theme: "Investment in Tourism Technology".

The representative of the Ecuadorian Ministry of Tourism held meetings with: Juan Sebastiani, Commercial Manager of CNN International with the purpose of analyzing tourism promotion options with this media company; and also, with representatives of Entourage, a company that works with important sport players, and seeks to identify the promotional opportunities for destinations in sports and international events.

For three days, 17 Ecuadorian co-exhibitors and representatives of municipalities offered tour packages from the Pacific Coast, Andes, Amazon and Insular Region of Ecuador. In addition, straw hats, roses and chocolates surprised and delighted those who visited the stand at WTM. In addition, visitors were entertained with traditional Ecuadorian songs such as Pasillos and Sanjuanitos interpreted by the Ecuadorian-British singer , Isabella Clawson-Maila.

Furthermore, we had the distinguished presence of the Director of the Youth Orchestra of Ecuador, Maestro Diego Carneiro, who is touring in different countries in Europe, promoting international cultural relations, through his art and his social projects in Ecuador. He played on his cello several Pasillos, a musical genre that is hoped to be declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO.

On the other hand, Ania Mudrewicz, Director of Galapagos Classic Cruises, mentioned: “The jewel in the crown is the Galapagos, we have been organizing cruises and scuba diving tours for 25 years. The Enchanted Islands exceed the expectations of travelers who choose the destination to celebrate honeymoons and enjoy different experiences in contact with nature with excellent guides and tour operators."

The fair was attended by tour operators, travel agencies, hotels, airlines, cruise ships, railway companies, car rental companies, government institutions, financial institutions, communication and marketing companies, educational institutions, technology companies, among other related to tourism.
