The Premier of Montserrat, Donaldson Romeo, has announced that the election date for Montserrat will be on Monday,November 18th, 2019.
The Premier announced via ZJB Radio just moments ago that he has met and spoken with the Acting Governor of Montserrat, H.E Mrs Lyndell Simpson, to inform her of his decision on the elections date, and to officially have parliament dissolved.
After weeks of wondering what the day will be, the people of Montserrat, and all those campaigning for elected office now have the official date for elections 2019.
The People's Democratic Movement (PDM) which is led by Premier Romeo, have served out their 5 year term, and will now put themselves up for re-election against several challengers to include the Montserrat United Labour Party (MUL), The Movement for Change & Prosperity (MCAP), Montserrat National Congress (MNC), plus a host of Independent Candidates who have announced their intentions to contest the elections.
With the date for elections now announced, the Montserrat Legislative Assembly (MLA) will only reconvene for a new Parliamentary Year Session when a new Government has been formed, and a Parliamentary Opposition elected for the island.
Campaigning will now switch into higher gear for Montserrat towards election day on Monday, November 18th, 2019.
