Toronto, Canada – Downtown Yonge strengthens its reputation as Toronto’s core fashion district with the 4th annual Fashion on Yonge event, hitting the catwalk on Wednesday September 7, 2016.

The event is presented by Downtown Yonge Business Improvement Area (DYBIA) and features over 300 outfits in three runway shows from a sampling of 150 apparel and accessories retailers in the area.

“Not only is Fashion on Yonge a great way to showcase our fashion retailers’ current fall trends, attendees can also sample food from local restaurants and indulge in mini beauty treatments like manicures, win prizes and hear some great live music” says DYBIA executive director Mark Garner.

Audience members can expect to see fashions from stores like Banana Republic, Ugly Dukling, Reiss and Hudson’s Bay, with make-up from global cosmetics retailer Inglot and hair by local salon Spellbound.

Back again this year are special presentations from Toronto Film School’s emerging designers, sharing their work on the runway throughout the event.

Also back this year is the ‘Tweet it to Win It’ contest giving two lucky fashionistas in the audience a chance to win their favourite outfit of the night from our retailers just by taking a photo and posting it on Twitter using our hashtag #FashionOnYonge

Downtown Yonge BIA is excited to bring Fashion on Yonge to Trinity Square this year, with runway shows happening inside the beautiful and historic church of Holy Trinity.

“Fashion is an integral part of Downtown Yonge: it’s also something that is ever-evolving, and we are thrilled to house this year’s runway event at the Church of Holy Trinity, a space that has witnessed nearly 170 years of changes in the neighbourhood,” Garner says.

“We’re excited to showcase the old and the new of the community, all in one night.”

The event kicks off at 5:00 p.m. with food and beauty service sampling, live music performances and on-site model styling, outside in Trinity Square. At 6:00 p.m. the audience will be treated to the first of three runway shows, moving from casualwear to more formal choices for the season, with additional shows at 7:00 and 8:00 p.m.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 19 Trinity Square. Space is limited inside the church so tickets are required for entry to the runway shows.
