TORONTO, Ont. (June 5, 2018)- Grace International Jerk Food & Music Festival (Grace JerkFest) has signed R&B singer and American Idol winner Fantasia as its headliner for this summer’s festival.

Fantasia rose to fame in 2004 when she won the third season of American Idol. Following her Idol success, she went on to write many hit songs, releasing her first album, Free Yourself, and became the first artist in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 chart to debut at No. 1 with her first single, “I Believe”. With several nominations and awards, Fantasia continues to embrace the spirit of rhythm and blues while writing music and performing.

“We are thrilled to welcome Fantasia to our stage at the festival this year,” says Anthony Plummer, Executive Director of the Festival. “We are proud to showcase many acts throughout the weekend and having Fantasia join our exciting lineup speaks to the caliber of Grace JerkFest.”

Aside from her award-winning music, Fantasia is also a published author, actress and Broadway star. In 2006, she released her memoir, Life Is Not a Fairytale, which became a New York Times bestseller, then went on to star in a Lifetime movie based on her book. Fantasia became the lead of the Broadway musical, The Colour Purple, in 2007, then returned to the stage in 2013 in After Midnight.

As part of the Ladies of Soul act, Fantasia will perform some of her hit songs while capturing the Caribbean spirit. Canadian singer Melanie Durrant will also bring her contemporary R&B talent to the festival as an opening act.

This is Fantasia’s first time performing in Canada and she is preparing to deliver a performance of a lifetime!
