There is a new project on the island of Montserrat that aims to protect, preserve and enhance many aspects of the island's environmental and heritage concerns.
The project titled "Maximising long-term survival prospects of Montserrat’s endemic species and ecosystem-services” is an international project being undertaken with various stakeholder partners.
According to the Hon Minister with responsibility for the Environment, Claude E.S Hogan, he states about the project, "It's a Darwin-Plus sponsored initiative, which should prove quite useful in the long range planning for benefits to be secured from our exclusion zone."
The project's aims and objectives have been very well laid out in the second edition of a newsletter recently released - SOS Nature of Montserrat.
Within the newsletter, there is information provided about the various local initiatives that have been instituted, or are being planned by both local and international partner organisations in the UK; and at also at other key locations
