It will now be easier for persons in the Diaspora to send monies to their friends and family back in Jamaica. The launch of Jamaica National Money Services (JNMS) has been announced. The service is now active in the United States, having being active in the UK and Canada, via the JN Money brand's online remittance service website, JN Money Online in the United States.

According to a release from the JN Bank this service is a first for a fully-owned Jamaican remittance company, and is available for U.S residents living in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Florida, Atlanta and Washington D.C.

According to JNMS General Manager Horace Hines; “We are aware of the security concerns of our customers, in respect to the security of their information, he added. “As a result, we have implemented secure processes and features, to ensure that information is protected, and extensive tests are carried out to safeguard and maintain the security of the website.”

Mr Hines further stated that the United States is their largest market that accounts for 60% of the US$2 Billion sent back to Jamaica annually.

This is a huge development for online banking in the remittance service market for JNMS. General Manager Hines indicated that the website is targeted to persons who "prefer to do business online and who will enjoy the convenience of the online service; as well as, to keep up with global trends which indicate that the internet is fast becoming the preferred method to conduct money transfers."

“Customers can also send funds, via the website, to accounts held at all financial institutions in Jamaica, and pay bills. Recipients of money transfers in Jamaica will be able to access their funds at any JN Money outlet, or at ATMs using the JN Money Transfer Card,” Mr Hines stated.

To send money transfers and pay bills, customers are asked to visit JN Money Online and sign-up for the service, which includes completing the registration process.
