The buzz has begun; the excitement is building as The Jamaican Canadian Association (The JCA)annual fundraising walkathon committee prepares to host another successful “Walk Good Walk-A-Thon” 2015. The event is scheduled for Sunday, May 3, 2015 registration starting at 8:00am under the theme: “Walking for a Brighter Future.” The Walk begins and ends at the JCA building, 995 Arrow Road Toronto, southwest of Finch Avenue and Highway 400.

The fundraising goal is to raise $100,000 dollars or more to support such JCA initiatives as the Scholarship Fund, the Saturday Morning Tutorial Program, and The Building Fund in addition to the many initiatives the community organizations are involved.

We are pleased to have the following organizations participate and support this major community event. The organizations involve includes - The Alliance of Jamaican Alumni Associations (Toronto), Bethel Restoration Ministries, Black Health Alliance; Citizens for the Advancement of Community Development, Jamaica Visionaries Association, Jully Black Entertainment Inc, Ontario Black History Society (OBHS), P.A.C.E {Canada} (Project for Advancement of Childhood Education), The Sickle Cell Association of Ontario and Tropicana Community Service. Each organization will be raising funds for their own initiatives. STATED, Barry Coke, President of JCA, “As a community, it is imperative that we support each other, and over the years the various community organizations have doubled and tripled. We undoubtedly believe that through this combined effort we will achieve and exceed our goal”.

“People know my story, I was raised in Jane and Finch to a single mom of 9 kids, I am a proud Jamaican and to know that the community that supported me as I grew, I now can support them, I can now pay it forward – it’s a beautiful thing” said Jully Black, CEO – Jully Black Entertainment Inc, International Artist & PanAm/Parapan Ambassador.

The success we have achieved over the years would not have been possible without our faithful patrons and sponsors. “Walk Good” is a well known Jamaican expression used often by the late Honourable Louise Bennett Coverley and is part of the JCA campaign theme for the annual fundraising walkathon: "Walk Good - Walking For a Brighter Future". Registration and breakfast starts 8:00am, opening remarks at 9:45am and the walk begins at 10:00am sharp. Participants are asked to have a minimum of $100.00 in pledges.

Come join us, as the JCA and friends do their walk or jog in the 5K or 10K. Rain or shine there will be guaranteed fun and smiles! All are welcome.
