Having taken a sabbatical from political rallies for well over a month, Montserrat’s incumbent Movement for Change and Prosperity (MCAP) political party returned to the stage in Cudjoe Head, Montserrat, on the evening of Saturday, August 30th, 2014, in bright yellow attire, calypso anthems and pumped speeches.

In Cudjoe Head, the MCAP faithful were in full campaign mode with flags, shirts and vocal support given to their adored incumbents.

The meeting began and was introduced by MCAP member, Clarence Greaves. The chairing of the evening’s proceedings was rested upon the shoulders of the son of leader of the MCAP Party, Ben Meade. The younger Meade opened with flair and pomp and sought to energise the crowd for the speeches that were to come from the candidates. Clearly, from Ben Meade’s introduction, and prose throughout his chairing of the rally, there is no denying that the MCAP ‘Family” are united in a single mission to be returned to the helm of political leadership on Montserrat.

Charles Kirnon is a seasoned campaigner and his delivery was telling, as he missed not a beat during what I would term as a very powerful and forthright presentation to the crowd. Kirnon outlined how the volcano had destroyed Plymouth and other key aspects of Montserrat’s economy, and for the first time in almost 20 years it was this MCAP government that had begun to advance real change and progress throughout Montserrat. He spoke towards the projects that are being done and the jobs that have been created for the people of Montserrat. Social welfare also he spoke towards, being increased, with the vulnerable being housed and looked after.
