The 2017 season of Miss Barbados UK came to a beautiful end on Saturday night where Miss Milan Carrington-Gomes was crowned the new Miss Barbados UK.

The 2017 season of Miss Barbados UK came to a beautiful end on Saturday night where Miss Milan Carrington-Gomes was crowned the new Miss Barbados UK.

Gaining the crown from former queen Miss Sheree Miller, Miss Milan Carrington-Gomes shed a few tears of joy as she was crowned.

As well as taking the big title of Miss Barbados UK, Milan also earned the titles of Miss Picture Perfect, Miss Fitness, Miss Twilight, Top Talent and Most Outstanding Delegate from the Heritage Quiz Night.

Miss Kyra Durant took second place, also earning the title of Bajan Chef Queen, Beauty with a Passion and Most Improved.

Coming in at third place was Miss Zania Linton who also came out on top in the Creative Wear segment, voted Most Dedicated and was amongst the winning team at the Heritage Quiz Night.

Other titles earned on the night were from Miss Erika Skeete, who won People’s Choice and was on the winning team at the Heritage Quiz Night. Miss Rudi-Anne Grant took the title of Most Sincere and Miss Jadene Richards took the title of Miss Articulate.

The Coronation Night saw an array of beautiful performances and stunning outfits, completed with a three-course meal from top Barbadian Chef, Jason Howard.

In light of the slight disruption with the delivery of food on the evening, Cinco Amor will be holding a Thank You Reception to show appreciation to all VIP, sponsors, and special invited guests for their patience and understanding on the night; and of course, to thank you all for coming out in your numbers. The Thank You Evening will take place on Friday 16th June 2017, 6pm-12am at the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc, 263 Tottenham Court Road, London, W1T 7LA.

Miss Milan Carrington-Gomes, 21 – Miss Barbados UK

Miss Milan Gomes aged 21 is an aspiring Drama Therapist and her charitable focus throughout the pageant season was towards school education and workshops. Her talent is mime and sign language dance, in which she won the talent segment with.
What made you decide to enter Miss Barbados UK 2017?
Being given the opportunity to receive the platform of Miss Barbados UK 2017 would be an honour. One area I would aim is to take leadership in introducing drama and drama therapy throughout the UK and Barbadian schools. I believe that I have the skills to use this technique to educate and inspire individuals to develop their confidence, communication skills & self- growth.

Self-confidence is key when making decisions in life. I believe in order to be great and do great you need to believe in yourself, find confidence within who you are but most of all fall in love with your flaws and love everything about yourself. Let your confidence naturally shine through your gifted performance of life. This is why I would love to be Miss Barbados UK 2017.


Miss Kyra Durant, 18 – 1st Runner Up 

Miss Kyra Durant aged 18 is an aspiring teacher and would like to teach in Spain. Her charitable focus throughout the pageant season was Going green, staying green” where she focused on providing clean water for people living in affecting areas.

What made you decide to enter Miss Barbados UK 2017?
I entered Miss Barbados UK 2017 because I wanted to gain a personal experience within the pageant industry, also giving myself a chance to proudly represent Barbados.

It was exciting to know that by entering this competition I would be giving myself the chance to learn about the history of my country as well as taking part in events that would not only strengthen me as an individual but increase my confidence along my journey. Looking at the delegates from the previous years inspired me to take the journey myself and see the success of my personal outcome. I will continue to take away many new skills and experiences from this competition, in my very day life.


Miss Zania Linton, 21 – 2nd Runner Up

Miss Zania Linton aged 21 is an aspiring dermatologist and her charitable focus throughout the pageant season was diabetes research where she was helping to fight type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

What made you decide to enter Miss Barbados UK 2017?

Being a proud Barbadian by decent, I believed joining Miss Barbados UK 2017 would give me the chance of becoming an ambassador for one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean. I felt this would give me the opportunity to help educate those about the many achievements of the island which most young Barbadians are often not aware of and highlighting our unique culture.
