The Montserrat Arts Council (MAC) today released the preliminary events calendar for the annual festival in December.
Montserrat Festival 2019 is slated for December 21, 2019 to January 1, 2020.
Acting Director of the MAC, Nerissa Golden stated that they are pleased with the level of interest from promoters as well as volunteers eager to be a part of the annual celebration.
Golden said: “We are happy to see several private promoters gearing up to host their events during December. Despite the challenges over the last few years, this speaks of confidence in the festival and Montserrat.”
There is also a movement afoot to revive Festival led by Glendena Taylor and a global team of volunteers based in USA, Canada, UK and the Caribbean. They started this movement with the view towards bringing back some vibrancy to Montserrat's year-end Festival celebrations.
MAC also stated that there is still time to submit names to volunteer for the following sub-committees:
Calypso Show
Queen Show
Soca Monarch
Carol Singing
Street Jams
Troupes & Groups
Opening & Closing of Festival
Names are also being accepted for the Miss Montserrat competition called "Crowning of a Queen" as well as for the National Calypso Monarch competition.

The events calendar will be updated once a month as promoters continue to fine tune their plans for the festival.
Updates and information will be posted on the Montserrat Annual Festival page on Facebook as they become available.
