Mrs Lyndell Simpson Confirmed as Deputy Governor of Montserrat

Mrs Lyndell Simpson has been appointed as Deputy Governor of Montserrat, with effect from 1 January, 2018.

This was confirmed by outgoing Governor Elizabeth Carriere In her last official function before leaving Montserrat on 2 January.

Mrs Simpson was initially appointed as Acting Deputy Governor from 1 December 2016 subject to a one year probation period. At the end of that period the Governor appraised Mrs Simpson’s performance and consulted the Premier in accordance with Section 85(1) of the Montserrat Constitution Order 2010. Having done so, she obtained the approval of the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs under Section 23(2).

Mrs Simpson’s substantive appointment is for an initial period of three years.
