TORONTO, February 1, 2018 — With a total of 40 reveals on the schedule, Media Preview Day for the 2018 Canadian International AutoShow reaffirms Toronto as the leader for automotive debuts in Canada.

Headlining an impressive roster of reveals are three North American debuts and seven concepts that will be shown in Canada for the first time. These debuts not only reflect the health and vitality of the Canadian auto industry, but they also underline Toronto’s importance on the auto show landscape in North America.

In addition to the 38 premieres scheduled to take place Thursday, February 15th, on the main show floor at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, two Canadian reveals will also take place in Auto Exotica, located in the 100 Level of the North Building. More information on those debuts will be announced at a later date.

Christian von Koenigsegg, CEO and founder of Swedish supercar manufacturer Koenigsegg, will kick off the day in the John Bassett Theatre with a keynote address and reveal of the Agera RS, which will make its Canadian debut. The Agera RS was recently named the world’s fastest production car with an official clocking of 457.94 km/h.

The debut of the Agera RS mirrors an upward trend of exotic reveals in Toronto following the North American debut of the Aston Martin AM-RB 001 hypercar concept at last year’s Media Preview Day. In fact, all premium and exotic manufacturers retailing cars in Canada will have representation at the Show.

In addition to the premieres, the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) will announce the winners of the 2018 Canadian Car and Utility Vehicles of the Year on Media Preview Day. AJAC will also present three additional awards – the Best Green Innovation, the Best Safety Innovation and Best Technical Innovation at the Show – on Wednesday, February 21st, again in the John Bassett Theatre.

In addition to activities happening on Media Preview Day, many special features and attractions are taking place at the 2018 Canadian International AutoShow. Among them are exhibits celebrating 50 Years of Hot Wheels, 70 Years of Porsche and Art & the Automobile presented by the Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance. New at the show this year is eSports Arena, a motorsports gaming competition, and PASMAG’s Tuner Battlegrounds, a bracket-style competition for custom cars – all alongside 11 manufacturers offering electric vehicle test drives from both the North and South buildings of the MTCC.
