In the music business, acceptance by your peers is like chart gold. Even more so to be accepted by the country that originated the genre of music that you’ve chosen to base your career on, that’s a step up; it’s like earning your full citizenship rights.

That’s acceptance.

Reggae and dancehall performer, Deebzlenuz (Dominic Lee) hails from the little volcano island of Montserrat, about 1500 miles south-east of Jamaica.

On Friday July 29th, at Collins Place, Clarendon, Jamaica, the Montserrat-born performer pays respectful homage to the trailblazers who influenced his music by unleashing his new album Ride Out in the birthplace of reggae.

Ride Out, produced by Sean Cassell at London’s Rasta Camp studios, presents Deebzlenuz at his original explosive best in a co-production with New York’s Skillz Kingz.

The energy is volcanic (like his birthplace Montserrat), the flow is relentless, and the Rasta Camp production is flawless.

“Music was our lives,” Deebzlenuz says of his upbringing in Montserrat. “It represented our thoughts and gave us a voice in the community to express ourselves.”

His musical influences point straight to Jamaica whose artists have been, and still are, staples on the local airwaves.

Nods to Bob Marley, Gregory Isaac, Dennis Brown, Peter Tosh and Bounty Killer, are evident in his music; always respected but not imitated.

Deeblenuz’s Ride Out release party in Jamaica is just the latest in a hectic production schedule by the in-demand Rasta Camp Productions which has teamed up with Skillz Kingz on this project.

Ride Out is also being released globally through a distribution arrangement with the international music distribution giant VPAL.

CD release parties are also scheduled for New York and the UK where meetings have been arranged with music executives.

CEO of Rasta Camp, Sean Cassell, currently engaged with a number of artists from Montserrat Montserrat and elsewhere wants to ensure that there’s a channel for other artists from Montserrat (he was also born there) to get the exposure that has brought Deeblenuz the success he is now enjoying.

The little island which gave the world Arrow (Hot, Hot, Hot) and Hero (Tiny Winey)- uncle and father, respectively of Sean Cassell – is known to be bursting with talent.

But that further global volcanic explosion of music is being hampered by lack of opportunities, inadequate local and regional exposure, and a seasonality of music releases largelky concentrated around the year-end festival period.

“Stop the dumpsite cycling of Montserrat music,” the young Cassell implores.

He has almost single-handedly taken on the task of being a music ambassador for Montserrat on his own behalf and that of other Montserrat performers.

Deeblenuz is just one of many being promoted by Sean Cassell/Rasta Camp including the just-released Rasta Camp compilation Volcano Rhythms.
