The Royal Montserrat Defence Force (RMDF) on Wednesday, January 17th, 2019 launched their National Marching Band.

The RMDF invited members of the community who are interested in learning to play a musical instrument, and becoming members of the marching band to the Davy Hill Community Centre to register as well as get more information as to the band, and the various musical instruments that are available.

This marching band initiative by the RMDF is being described as an avenue for persons to learn to play a musical instrument, as well as to allow for all ceremonial parades to once again have local musical accompaniment.

It is envisioned that persons being members of the band would gain skills and knowledge in the area of music that will allow them to become well-rounded members of the community.

This is the first step to restart the RMDF marching band, which was once a staple of all ceremonial functions on Montserrat.

The full list of musical instruments that persons can learn to play includes:-
• Trumpets
• Trombones
• Alto Saxophones
• Tenor Saxophones
• Clarinet
• Baritone Horn
• Alto Horn
• Cornets
• Cymbals
• Bass Drums
