You can help the people of Palestine and show solidarity with the Palestinian refugees by substantially and tangibly improvng their lives amidst the US Administration's decision to cut UNRWA funding by 83%.

On March 24th, 2018, you can improve the quality of life for children in Gaza by signing up for the NYC Gaza 5K! Which, for the first time, will include an official dabke dance party post-race!

Mental health is an essential component of our overall health and wellbeing. In the United States alone, one in 25 American adults suffer from a serious mental health condition that impacts their quality of life.

Now, imagine growing up as a Palestine refugee in the blockaded Gaza Strip, where at the age 10 years you’ve already lived through three major Israeli military assaults and half the children you know are suffering from PTSD, or some other form of psychological trauma.

There’s no escape. In fact, 90% of UNRWA’s 260,000 students have never left the Gaza Strip, an area that’s only about twice the size of Brooklyn.

No person -- from New York to Palestine -- should ever have to suffer constant distress.

Your participation in the upcoming 5K run will mean:
  • Employing 12 UNRWA counselors -- refugees themselves -- to provide critically needed mental health services
  • Offering kids in Gaza a safe space to express their emotions and fears and a way to learn valuable coping skills
  • Doing something healthy and active in 2018 and raising awareness to the situation in Gaza in a time where Palestine refugees are facing tremendous vulnerabilities.
