When traveling for business, you want to keep your schedule as efficient as possible. Long Transportation Security Administration (TSA) lines can derail your air commute, especially at busier airports in cities like Chicago, Atlanta and New York. Fortunately, the TSA PreCheck program allows fliers to quickly move through pre-screened lines without unpacking their laptops or removing their shoes, belts or jackets.

Until recently, major U.S. airlines had partnerships with the TSA that allowed airline reward-program members to opt-in to PreCheck without paying enrollment fees or going through the entire registration process. However, TSA rule changes enacted this year mean that even reward-program members must enroll and pay applicable TSA fees to ensure they will be selected for expedited screening.

Travelers who haven’t done so before now need to apply for a Known Traveler Number through the TSA to retain their PreCheck benefits. Visit your airline rewards account to verify what the stricter PreCheck eligibility will mean for you.
