I am but a lonely man
Mentally encapsulated in this body on this land
Thirsty yet I bathe in Runway Ghaut spring water
Knowing not my strength within for my eyes see yonder
Taking for granted the richness and tranquility that surrounds
For development in the minds eye are buildings and compounds
Rest assured the wealthy seek the serenity that I lavish
But deep in my heart I dread, so for this I perish

Blue skies and warm ocean breeze bestowed my soul
Nature's open arms of purification makes my body whole
This fertile land on which I stand is more than a birth place
It seeps richness, family values and brotherly love with grace
Size and separation dredges our core to assume and want more
Armed with necessity, greed and intelligence some may visit this shore
But conscionable like dust and dry leaves they'll settle
The euphoria of this hidden amicable place quells the battle
Desiring to change the rooted peaceful manner for deemed progress
I am but a lonely man so for this I regress

Indulgence in advancement is no more than sea and sand
For the giver is the taker the difference is with which hand
Volcanic bloom needs to be used as a step up and not a slope
The past is what it is, progress depends on the way we cope
So far the battle of church and state has kept us in line
Carefully utilizing scenery for ratcheted advancement displaying find
The view of the land will display the rebuilder after the storm
But the pages of history will show the designer who fought for calm
Creative thinking outside the proverbial box should be encouraged
I am but a lonely man and this is my leverage
