Rastaman Ilee was asked by this tourist why he smiles
His response profound as if heard for miles
He said "All my life I was considered an outcast
Regardless of what achievements I'm always looked at last
I'm a tad darker than the average black, so dark, hell I'm blurple
That's the shade between too black, not blue and purple
Society doesn't know where to put me so they labelled me trouble
Being overlooked so often but I still have love for God's people
With crooked eyes they are trained to not see me progressively
Yet I keep both feet on the ground while I trod earth steadfastly
The hue of my skin says nothing about my intellectual being
Nor does it highlight my capability of enrichment achieving
So when you ask for the proprietor of this elaborate estate
Erase that disdain look for that I am, I do not just hold the gate
Those artifacts within that are on display are my creation
The pictures were painted from my view to the nation

The answer was but a little harsh coming from that angle
So Ilee insisted to elaborate and educate on some of the trouble
Been labelled derogatorily with every name attached to black
For me it's welcoming though some blindly think it's an attack
These added melanin allows me to see the depth of my fellowman
I was born enduring and withstanding massive tribulation on this land
Conniving grins, hidden racism, back stabbing, are degrading cohesion
To the depth of my embodied sincere smiling satisfaction
It's not the color of skin that highlights ignorance and stupidity
Lack of education and instilled prejudice blinds one's true morality
For injustice is dealt by the hands who holds authority
Acceptance is the vehicle that curtails the minds of the minority
So with a look at these brilliant ivory glistening against my ebony body
My love, my heart, my joy, I share to you triumphantly
For gentle is the man that lives within the walls with a good conscience
Than the ones that roam free and burden with malice and illusions
