St Kitts/Nevis PM Harris To Hold Constituency Meetings, In The "Discussions For Prosperity"

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JULY 15TH, 2016 – Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris and members of his Team Unity Cabinet will engage with the public during an interactive forum titled “Discussions for Prosperity” on Monday, July 18th at the Joshua Obadiah Williams Primary School in Molineux. The start time is 7:00pm.

Dr. Harris, who is the Parliamentary Representative for Saint Christopher #7, extends a warm invitation to members of all the other Constituencies to attend the town hall meeting.

On hand to update the community on matters of national interest and answer questions will be the Honourable Senator Vincent Byron Jr., who is the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice et al.; the Honourable Eugene Hamilton, who is the Minister of Agriculture, Health et al. and the Parliamentary Representative for Saint Christopher #8; the Honourable Ian Patches Liburd, who is the Minister of Public Infrastructure, Transport et al. and the Parliamentary Representative for Saint Christopher #1, and the Honourable Senator Wendy Phipps, who is the Minister of State within the Ministry of Health, Community Development et al.

Prime Minister Harris welcomes such opportunities to find out what the people are thinking so that he and his administration can respond effectively to their concerns.

For instance, the Prime Minister met with scores of people for one-on-one consultations that spanned more than three hours on Thursday, March 24th at the Joshua Obadiah Williams Primary School. It was after 8:00pm when he had his final one-on-one consultation. One by one, he spoke with persons in a classroom, writing down their names and contact information, as well as details of each conversation.

Getting to sit down with the Prime Minister is always symbolic for one 40-year-old lady, who declined to give her name. It symbolizes the strong ties that she and her family have with him.

“He used to just come and sit down and talk to my grandmother," she said, adding that her grandmother would always tell the Prime Minister ‘Do the good works!’ The lady went on to say, “She said she would always vote for him. So she is always telling us do not turn our back on him.”

At 5:59pm, after the lady met with Prime Minister Harris, she assessed the meeting. “It went good, good, good so far. He said he will look into it for me and then he will get back to me.”

Almost three hours later, the Prime Minister wrapped up his last one-on-one sit-down. The day was long. The Prime Minister had a meeting with his Cabinet prior to heading to the one-on-one consultations in Molineux.

However, it was worth it. The scores of people who met with Prime Minister Harris left the meeting feeling assured of a short, clear path to a resolution.
