Hello everyone, my name is Maya Laylor. My aim is to compete in the 2015 Pan American Games, 2015 Junior World Championships in Poland and the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games; earning medals in each.

I am 19 years old and have been weightlifting since I was 16. In just 3 short years I have earned the titles of Ontario Senior Champion for 2012, 2013 and 2014. I won the 2014 Canadian Senior Championship in 75kg class and am now the 2015 Canadian Junior Weightlifting Champion in the 75kg class. I have already broken 12 records and am the best female weightlifter in Ontario pound for pound. As a part of the Canadian Junior National Team, I had the honour of competing in the 2014 World Junior Weightlifting Championships held in Kazan, Russia. With these accomplishments under my belt, I know that I will eventually earn even bigger titles, and greater achievements! I WILL make Canada proud.

Your contribution means:

I am proud to be a Canadian, but in terms of financial support for the sport of Olympic weightlifting, there is very little. To be successful in anything, you have to give it your all, be fully committed and totally dedicated. I understand that, and I'm all in!

Unfortunately, hard work can only take a lifter so far without that needed financial support. Weightlifters from the top countries dedicate themselves full-time to the sport and are paid as professional athletes. Part time athlete equals part-time results, whereas full-time athlete equals full time results. Your support means so much to my success. And as a full-time athlete, it means that I can focus on my craft, putting in the time and work it takes in order to become a winner on the world stage.

The donations received will help with my training camps, therapy, supplements, recovery methods, travel and competitions. Your faith in me definitely motivates me more than ever to win more medals. Thank you for investing in my future.
