Tazia Briscoe-Jarrett is the new Montserrat Festival Queen 2013/2014.

Miss Briscoe-Jarrett was crowned Queen on the night of Sunday, December 29, at the Festival City Grounds on Montserrat, where she competed for the title along with three other contestants. She won Queen, having amassed a total of 813 points. Her closest rival in first runner up position gained only 726 points from the judges.

The ladies Miss Briscoe-Jarrett came up against on the night were:

Contestant No. 1 - Alexia Allison

Contestant No. 2 - Juneann John

Contestant No. 3 - Azrudee Lindsey

Describing her delight at being crowned Miss Festival Queen, Tazia told MNI Alive immediately after, that she felt, "Great!!"

She further commented via her social media page; "Wow! Tears of joy! Lorraine Lewis, Jo-Annah Richards, and Kristen Taylor, I want to say a big thanks because without this, phoenix would not rise and my supporters - wow! The journey was long, hard and rewarding. Tears of joy! My fellow contestants, a journey to remember!"

The new Festival Queen was chaperoned by Miss Lorraine Lewis, a known and prized veteran in the queen show arena spanning many years. Tazia was also wonderfully chaperoned by Miss Jo-Annah Richards. Miss Richards is a former Miss Montserrat UK winner, having won that title in 2006. She was also 1st runner up in the 2007 Miss Festival Pageant on Montserrat.

Tazia walked away with the crown on Sunday night, claiming victory in all but one category. She won Miss Photogenic, Best Introductory Speech, Best Talent, Best Swim Wear, Best Evening Wear, and Best Question and Answer.

Contestant number 3, Miss Azurdee Lindsey placed 1st Runner Up, whilst contestant number 2, Juneann John won Miss Congeniality.

Miss Briscoe-Jarrett's victory brings to an end the reign of the 2012/2013 Festival Queen, Miss Kadija Furlonge.

The four ladies who vied for the title of 2013/2014 Festival Queen competed over 5 segments for the duration of the show. These segments were - Introduction, Talent, Swim Wear, Evening Wear, and Question and answer.

The 2013 Festival Queen show was streamed live via both ZJB Radio and also via paid online viewing service ComeseeTV International.

The viewing public were entertained throughout the show with performances from The Soca Bunnies, Master Yogi Laser, Genesis Steel Orchestra, Ben Durant, Kwasi Ryan, and the Catholic Youth Council.
