Intangible cultural heritage and its safeguarding will be honoured on 4 and 5 June at UNESCO Headquarters. During the meeting of the General Assembly of States Parties to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (4 to 6 June, Room II), a number of parallel events will showcase projects that have benefitted from international financial assistance and recent endeavours to teach intangible cultural heritage.

The following four projects, supported by the Intangible Heritage Fund, their experiences and outcomes will be the subject of presentations:
Colombia - Nelson Ortiz, Regional and Environmental Planning Advisor at the Gaia Amazonas Foundation and Tarcicio Vanegas, Indigenous Leader, and Jaguar Shaman of Yuruparí on Safeguarding of the traditional knowledge for the protection of sacred natural sites in the territory of the Jaguars of Yuruparí, Vaupés Province, Colombia
Mali - Lassana Cisse, Malian heritage professional on the Inventory of intangible cultural heritage in Mali with a view to its urgent safeguarding
Uuganda - Irene Nabirye, Nabitende Community Leader, and James Isabirye, Executive Secretary, National Council of Folklorists of Uganda (NACOFU) on Safeguarding and promotion of Bigwala, gourd trumpet music and dance of Busoga Kingdom in Uganda
Viet Nam - Tran Thuy Duong of the Faculty of Anthropology, National University of Viet Nam, on Safeguarding and promotion of indigenous knowledge associated with the ecological environment of the Black Ha Nhi in Lao Cai Province, Viet Nam
