Today on The International, Women are in focus.

Host Jeevan A. Robinson spoke with Michael Madowitz, Economist at The Center for American Progress (CAP) about the disproportionate burden COVID-19 has placed on women.

Michael recently wrote a report where he details women’s experiences having record job losses, how they have been disproportionately harmed, and the caregiving burden mothers have had, potentially setting them back a generation. Women took the biggest economic hit from the coronavirus-induced recession, and a slowing recovery is increasingly leaving them behind says Michael.

Michael works at CAP in the areas of budget and fiscal policy, public finance, macroeconomics, work and family issues, energy and environmental economics.
