TORONTO, February 16, 2018 – Among the big names on hand during media preview day at the 2018 Canadian International AutoShow (Feb. 16-25), perhaps none stood out as much as Toronto Maple Leafs superstar William Nylander.

Nylander, a native of Sweden and Volvo brand ambassador, participated in the unveiling of the 2019 Volvo XC40 and received a key to the first unit in Canada.

On sale across Canada this spring, the XC40 sets a new benchmark for safety, design and connectivity in the compact SUV segment. The stunning new vehicle offers versatility, functionality and significant storage capabilities designed to incorporate the active lives of today’s drivers.

2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

Earlier, at the Chevrolet stand, the fastest car the brand has ever built was revealed in Canada for the first time.

“The new [2019] Corvette ZR1 is the fastest and most powerful Chevrolet ever,” said Jamie Dewhurst, brand manager for Chevrolet Cars in Canada. “This combination of design, engineering and racing technology establishes a new global benchmark in performance, putting other supercars on notice.”

The Corvette ZR1’s exclusive LT5 supercharged engine, is rated at an SAE-certified 755 horsepower and 715 lb-ft of torque, delivering an incredible 0-60 in under 3 seconds. Further, the ZR1 elevates Corvette’s track capability with two wind tunnel-honed aerodynamics packages, including an available High Wing that provides an estimated 950 pounds of downforce.

Tesla Model 3

Finally, down in Auto Exotica, in the Level 100 of the North Building, Tesla took the wraps off the all-new Model 3, which is being shown in Canada for the first time.

Model 3 is a smaller, simpler and a more affordable electric car. Designed and built as the world’s first mass-market electric vehicle, the Model 3 combines range, performance, safety and technology. Intelligent design maximizes interior space to comfortably fit five adults and all of their gear. The high-efficiency powertrain provides zero to 97 km/h acceleration in as little as 5.1 seconds, with a combined range of 354 to 498 kilometres of range.
