Reports reached MNI Alive Media on Monday, November 9, 2015, that triple reigning calypso monarch, Keithroy "de Bear" Morson, was placed under arrest by officers of the Royal Montserrat Police Service.

The circumstances surrounding the arrest of Mr Morson, who currently reigns as the calypso monarch of his native island Montserrat; his adopted home of Antigua and Barbuda; and also as monarch of the Leeward Islands; were initially unclear, as we were informed the arrest related to an immigration infraction.

However, MNI Alive Media can today confirm that the arrest of "De Bear" did indeed relate to an immigration matter. The nature of that matter, and the formal charges are not yet confirmed from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions on Montserrat.

We understand that formal charges are being considered.

Having spoken directly to a source directly involved with this matter, MNI Media can share, as was relayed to us, that Mr Morson alleges that he went through immigration at Port Little Bay, on arrival from Antigua and Barbuda on Sunday evening, as he normally does. Furthermore, we were made to understand that Mr Morson received clearance to leave the immigration facility by customs officials on duty at the time. Later that evening, at about 11:00pm on Sunday, November 8, 2015, police officers arrived at Mr Morson's home and placed him under arrest in relation to an alleged immigration breach.

Mr Morson remained in prison overnight, but has now been released.

No further details are available presently, as this matter will quite possibly be proceeding along legal lines towards a resolution, we have been further informed.
