ZJB News has reported that two senior police officers have been given their demotion orders.

Although information is sketchy at this time, credible sources have told the local media outlet that Inspectors Derona Semper and Albert Williams received their demotion letters Monday.

The source told ZJB News that both officers have been demoted to the rank of Sergeant with immediate effect.

According to the source, news of the demotions has shocked other officers across the Royal Montserrat Police Service.

The source has also quoted the demoted officers as saying that it would be very difficult for them to serve alongside officers they were previously in charge of.

ZJB News contacted His Excellency the governor Adrian Davis to confirm the demotions and the reason or reasons for the demotions, but was told that there was no comment at this time.

The latest developments mark the first time in recent memory that such actions have been taken against high-ranking officers of the Royal Montserrat Police Service.
