Hurricane Irma, which is now hitting the state of Florida in the United States, has left a trail of destruction along its path through the Caribbean over the past week.
Images of massive devastation of property and livelihoods are being broadcast around the world, as families and individuals across the Northern Caribbean are now left to rebuild after Irma's wrath on their islands.
Reports also indicate that a total of 21 deaths so far have been reported, as a result of Hurricane Irma hitting the Northern Caribbean.
With all the work now required to put some of these islands destroyed by Irma back together, Canadian based organisation GlobalMedic, an organisation that offers humanitarian assistance to persons impacted by disasters all over the world, on Saturday September 9th, 2017, hosted a help the Caribbean appeal which saw many volunteers come out to assist in the packing of 5000 Hygiene kits that will help to bring relief to victims of Hurricane Irma across the Northern Caribbean.
These relief kits organised by the international disaster relief organisation, will be sent via air transport to the Caribbean islands most impacted by Irma. These kits will help to support 5000 people by protecting their health and dignity as they recover from the devastating Hurricane.
The kits are earmarked to be sent for residents of Antigua & Barbuda, St Maarten/St Martin and the Dominican Republic.
MNI Alive Media was on hand, and spoke to the Director of GlobalMedic Rahul Singh, on the relief effort to assist the Caribbean as residents look to recover from Hurricane Irma.
