Caribbean Broadcaster Chosen For Rights To 2014 World Cup

International Media Content and its subsidiary SportsMax have been chosen by FIFA to be owners of the broadcast rights for the Caribbean for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

IMC Chairman, Pat Roseau has expressed his delight at being chosen to broadcast the next World Cup. He stated, "With minor variations, FIFA has signed a new contract directly with IMC for us to be original owners of broadcast rights for the region of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.  This is indeed a proud moment for IMC and SportsMax and we are delighted, and as we have done in the past, we plan to deliver to the people of the region world-class coverage of the event." 

Broadcast rights for FIFA World Cup games in the Caribbean was originally held by a company called JDI, which is owned by former FIFA official, Jack Warner. FIFA stripped JDI of its broadcast rights after Warner was implicated in a  cash-for-votes scandal.

Going forward, IMC/SportsMax will be delivering the World Cup to a host of Caribbean broadcasters.
