Caribbean Tourism Organization Announces Winners of Grenada Media Workshop

Last October, the Grenada Board of Tourism, in collaboration with LIAT and the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) conducted a media training workshop to assist in the development of the skills of young Caribbean journalists. Apart from the ten regional journalists who participated, five Grenadians attended.  

The four-day event comprised several pertinent topics, and included a competitive assignment where participants were mandated to submit entries to the Caribbean Tourism Organization.

In reporting on the results of these submissions, Communications Specialist at the CTO Johnson Johnrose indicated that “we had some excellent entries and I’m very proud of what these journalists were able to achieve”.    

In the following results two Grenadian participants are highlighted:

• Best Feature on Grenada by Visiting Journalist (Print) – Sanny Ensing – From Callaloo Soup to Nutmeg Ice Cream: The Flavours of Grenada
• Best Feature on Grenada by Local Journalist (Print) – Asher Andall – Grenada has Plenty to Offer: Beautiful sites, Rich Culture and Heritage
• Best Feature on Grenada by Visiting Journalist (Broadcast) – Tyrella Alexander – Ho, Ho, Ho and Some Rivers Rum
• Best News Story by Local Journalist – Rose Fraser – Media Training Workshop Opens
• Best News Story by Visiting Journalist – Tyrella Alexander  - Total Visitor  Satisfaction
• Best Commentary – Shane Jitta  - Rename it Nutmeg
• Best Photography accompanying a Feature – Sanny Ensing – Feeding Canes to the Old Press
• Best of the Best – Sanny Ensing - From Callaloo Soup to Nutmeg Ice Cream: The Flavours of Grenada

The CTO will prepare plaques for all the winners and LIAT will provide tickets to any of its destinations for all the winners. For the best of the best award, it’s expected that Grenada will provide a holiday for two for the winner.

The Grenada Board of Tourism is pleased with the outcome and congratulates the successful participants.
