Statement From Fly Montserrat On Aircraft Accident

Yesterday evening an aircraft operated by Montserrat based air carrier, Fly Montserrat, was involved in a non fatal accident shortly after landing at the John Osborne Airport at Geralds, Montserrat.

The skill of the Pilot on duty, Captain Paula Girling ensured that no passengers on board sustained any injuries, however, the aircraft itself did receive some damage.

MNI Alive contacted Fly Montserrat for more information about the incident and was given an exclusive statement from the Manager of Fly Montserrat, Captain Nigel Harris. The full text of Captain Harris' statement is outlined below.
 

Statement from Fly Montserrat

Shortly after 1500 on Sunday April 17th, Fly Montserrat flight 105 from Antigua landed at John A Osborne Airport.

The landing was observed by Air Traffic Control as being normal. However, after touchdown the aircraft rolled left off the runway and came to rest on the grass verge.

No passengers appeared to have sustained any injuries from the incident, however the aircraft was damaged,

Fly Montserrat resumed normal flights two hours after the incident. The aircraft was removed from the runway area whilst the airport was closed overnight.

Captain Nigel Harris, Managing Director of Fly Montserrat thanks Captain Paula Girling on her professional handling of the incident, which reflects the training that Fly Montserrat provides.

Captain Harris also thanks the emergency services for their swift response and also thanks the Airport Authorities for the way the incident was handled.

A Fly Montserrat engineer carried out a preliminary survey of the aircraft on site, and further investigations will continue today.
