Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the post of Business Education Teacher with emphasis on teaching Principles of Business, Principles of Accounts and Electronic Document Preparation and Management in the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports. The successful applicant will be appointed before the commencement of the academic year in 2020/2021, that is, prior to September 2020.

JOB PURPOSE:                   

To teach Principles of Business, Principles of Accounts, Electronic 

Document Preparation and Management or any other business related 

subject to assigned students at the Montserrat Secondary School.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The key responsibilities include:

  • Teach specified subject to groups of students as required by the Ministry of Education or the Head of the school;

  • Prepare students to write overseas examinations such as CXC CSEC;

  • Teach students assigned according to their educational needs thereby providing them with appropriate learning experiences;

  • Plan and prepare the required schemes of work, lesson plans etc. for the effective delivery of the school’s programme;

  • Assess students’ performance on a regular basis, discuss their performance with them and report to their parents/guardians and advise on steps to be taken to improve performance;
  • Assist in promoting the welfare and well being of students and fostering their social moral development through pastoral care;

  • Maintain the required registers and records, reports and other documents as specified by the Ministry of Education, and report on students’ attendance, behaviour, attainment and progress;

  • Assist with extra-curricula activities and the care of the school’s assets;

  • Contribute to behavior management of students in school, 

  • Communicate with parents/guardians and the wider community as directed by the school Head.

PERSONNEL SPECIFICATION:

Candidate must have a degree in Business Studies, Accounts or any other related fields from a recognized University or Tertiary institution. Candidates must have completed a teacher training program from a recognized teacher training institute. 

The ability to communicate in Spanish will be a useful asset.

SALARY:

Salary is in the scale R 22 – 16, that is EC$50, 976 - $60, 480 per annum.

Housing Allowance Negotiable (Overseas Applicants only)
