Caribbean Woman Angella Reid, Named New White House Chief Usher

A Jamaican woman has been named as the first female Chief Usher in the Obama White House. Fifty-two year old hotelier, Angella Reid, will be taking over from Rear Admiral Stephen Rochan, who will move on to work with the US Department of Homeland Security.

Angella will be the 9th Usher in this position since 1885. She will be responsible for White House activities, as well as all operations on grounds of the White House.

She will also be working closely with the US Commission on Fine Arts, the White House Historical Association, the Committee for the Preservation of the White House as well as other key organizations.

Currently, she is the General Manager at the Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City.

Angella was born in Trinityville, St Thomas Jamaica.
