Dear friends and colleagues,

May 25 marks a day of celebration, remembrance, and recognition of our global humanity. As we celebrate Africa Day, we reflect on the life of Mr. George Floyd and the legacy of his passing that sparked a movement in the United States and around the world. Africa Day is a day of unity, and we honor this day in recognition of our global humanity.

At the African Diaspora Network, we celebrate Africa Day by remembering all those who made it possible for us to be here. As a part of the contemporary Diaspora, I recognize that I am able to do what I do from the sacrifice of Black Americans who have paved the way for us in the United States. Entrepreneurship turns challenges into opportunities. That is why in 2021, ADN launched the Accelerating Black Leadership and Entrepreneurship (ABLE) program to energize, strengthen, and support Black entrepreneurs, modeled after our Builders of Africa’s Future program supporting grassroots African entrepreneurs.

We are grateful to celebrate the 16 ABLE entrepreneurs of the inaugural cohort and our 2022 Builders of Africa’s Future. This collective effort is possible thanks to our funders, board members, advisors, and community members consisting of Africans, Diasporans, and friends of Africa, all gathered around the common goal of supporting Black-led and African-led ventures. In honor of this day of unity, we invite you to recognize and support these impactful leaders and remember those whose legacies have made an impact in your communities.

As always, thank you,

Almaz Negash
