The national investment promotion agency (IPA) of Barbados, Invest Barbados, has taken the decision to be involved in the Island Finance Forum 2021, to bring focus to the investment opportunities on this island.
“We are ‘present’ at this year’s event with the aim of showcasing the investment potential that Barbados has to offer to a global audience and to remind attendees that our investment climate remains warm and welcoming. As the official hosts of the Forum’s Networking session, we also encourage participants to explore the exciting and emerging opportunities that exist in Barbados,” explained Kaye-Anne Brathwaite, CEO of Invest Barbados.
Invest Barbados is responsible for attracting, winning, facilitating and sustaining international investments for Barbados.
Brathwaite commended Island Innovation for the role it is playing to engage in developmental conversations and support sustainability and innovation. “Now more than ever, connectivity and collaboration is crucial to our individual and collective future - and I thank the organisers of this Forum for providing a virtual platform to thought leaders and those invested in the sustained development of our islands,” Brathwaite stated.

Sign up is free on the website: www.islandinnovation.
The Forum aims to highlight the unique financial challenges faced by global island communities and innovative solutions for sustainable economic recovery and inclusive growth in a post-pandemic world. The event will bring together senior policymakers, financiers and regulators to address the following topics across a series of interactive panels and discussions:
- Impact Investing & ESG

- Insurance & Risk Management
- Economic Growth in a Post-Pandemic World
- Financing the Green Energy Transition & Low-Carbon Infrastructure
- Blockchain & Cryptocurrencies
- Access to Finance & Debt Restructuring
- Fintech for Financial Inclusion
Barbados will be featured through Brathwaite’s input on the ‘Economic Recovery and Inclusive Growth in a Post-Pandemic World: The Island Scenario’ panel, which will explore approaches and solutions for economic recovery and inclusive growth in a post-pandemic world. Also speaking will be Simon Chantry, CBDO of Bitt, an innovative Barbadian technology company offering digital currency solutions to Financial Institutions and Central Banks and Jo Edghill, Director of Megapower (a Barbados based e-transport provider). Dale Trotman, Founder of MedRegis (a company focused of electronic health records management) will be among the Barbados-based exhibitors present at the Forum.
The Forum will be hosted by Island Innovation, whose most recent event was the Virtual Island Summit which took place last September and attracted more than 10,000 attendees. The Summit also features keynote speeches from country leaders including the Prime Ministers of Fiji and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Presidents of Guyana and the Federated States of Micronesia. Featured speeches will be given by the Prime Ministers of Saint Lucia and Antigua & Barbuda, as well as Government Ministers from Bermuda, the UK, Timor-Leste, Greenland and Saint Lucia.
Founder and Director of Island Innovation, James Ellsmoor commented, “The Virtual Island Summit was a great success, achieving amazing geographic and sectoral diversity across both our speakers and global audience. The Island Finance Forum will have a different focus, but the overall purpose remains the same; to build digital bridges between island communities around the world and share and exchange knowledge that is most pertinent to them. We are happy to work with Invest Barbados to showcase the excellent emerging opportunities available on the island, particularly as related to Renewable Energy, the Blue Economy, FinTech and Medical Tourism.”
The Island Finance Forum will be completely free to attend and accessible to attendees from across the globe in a variety of interactive sessions and discussions. This will include several networking opportunities, sponsored by Invest Barbados, where attendees can meet and exchange ideas face to face or in small groups. Attendees will be able to select which of the topics and sessions they actively participate in - and all sessions will be recorded and available to watch at a time that is convenient.
