Award-winning R&B singer-songwriter Sean Jones is set to debut his new festive concert Holiday Soul at the stunning Koerner Hall, TELUS Centre for Performance and Learning in Toronto on Sunday, December 11, 2022 with a 3:30pm matinee performance. Sean will perform soul-inspired renditions of timeless holiday classics and share the stage with the Toronto Concert Orchestra and award-winning performers Divine Brown and Jackie Richardson.
The merry event is musically directed by Darryn de Souza, and Holiday Soul supports Toronto-based charity Daily Bread Food Bank. All concert-goers are encouraged to bring “Soul Food” (a non-perishable food item) to the on-site donation bins. Last year, there were close to 1.45 million food bank visits in Toronto, the highest number of visits ever recorded in the city’s history and a 47% increase compared to the year prior, so the Soul Food donations are essential to support community members in need.
Sean Jones Presents: Holiday Soul tickets go on sale today at 10:00am ET here. Tickets start at $60, and listed ticket prices include all taxes and fees.
"This show is a dream come true for me. To share the stage with my dear friends Jackie Richardson, Divine Brown, and The Toronto Concert Orchestra is truly an honour,” says Sean Jones. “To be able to create a holiday show that is centred around the music I grew up on and built my entire career around, while also giving back to the community by supporting The Daily Bread Food Bank, is an amazing feeling. This is going to be an extraordinary concert on so many levels and I cannot wait for Toronto to hear what we have put together for them."
“Food bank use in Toronto is at crisis-levels," says Neil Hetherington, CEO, Daily Bread Food Bank. "The impact of inflation and the rising cost of food means that more people are relying on food banks to feed their families. We are deeply grateful to Sean Jones for bringing together these incredibly talented artists, and for using the power of community to support our neighbours this holiday season.”
Sean is thrilled to share the Holiday Soul stage with incredible special guest performers. The Toronto Concert Orchestra was founded by internationally recognized conductor and music director, Kerry Stratton, and presented its first symphony concert in 2008. The TCO can be heard in some of Toronto’s magnificent concert venues and churches, and is best known for their annual summer series Symphony in the City.
A versatile performer, Divine Brown has an impressive five-octave vocal range. She has several top 10 singles and received a JUNO Award for R&B Album of the Year for The Love Chronicles.
Jackie Richardson is a legendary singer of blues, jazz, and gospel. She has graced the stage and screen as an award-winning film, television, and musical theatre actress, with leading roles in record-breaking productions. She was made an Honorary Member of the Order of Canada in 2021 for her musical contributions and leadership and mentoring of young performers in her community.
Sean Jones is a JUNO award-winning R&B singer-songwriter whose contemporary take on classic soul and R&B sound is a tribute to the icons that inspired him. Sean's expansive career saw him perform on the shores of Monaco, the islands of Hawaii, London’s historic Trafalgar Square, New York’s Carnegie Hall and The Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center.
In the summer of 2015, Sean began the Soul In The City residency at Casa Loma. Set in the luscious castle gardens, Sean and The Righteous Echo performed both original and classic soul, R&B and pop classics every Monday night. Boasting sold-out nights of over 1,000 patrons per show, the hugely successful residency also became a vibrant platform for emerging talent.
Building upon the success of Soul In The City, Sean is setting his sights on a new and exciting seasonal show. Holiday Soul welcomes the community to celebrate with a new soulful twist to the holiday season, and an incredible lineup of performances.
