The Saint-Martin Tourism Office, the Collectivité of St. Martin, SXM ARTISTS and Caribproduction are associated around this project. While attending the 2013 TOP RESA tradeshow in Paris, the President of the Tourism Office, Mrs Jeanne Rogers-Vanterpool met Franck Mirre (author and main actor of the series SNIPE). In November 2013 Mr. Mirre and Nicolas Dollander (director) met with the Tourism Office and SXM ARTISTS. They visited the island in order to determine if the series could be filmed here. In love with our paradise island and its divers decors, Franck Mirre decided to film two seasons of the detective series SNIPE in Saint-Martin.

The filming crew will be on island this month to shoot the teaser (pilot episode) of the series. Luc Besson (world renown French Director, Producer and author) has expressed his interest in producing the series.

The Tourism Office and the Collectivité of St Martin’s will is to position the island of St Martin as a « location land » thus bringing structure to the audiovisual sector. The Tourism Office is in the process of creating a « film department » with the primary mission of developing the sector. It should facilitate on island filming and assist production teams. It should be the first contact and will assess the feasibility of projects in the interest of the destination.

Alongside the filming of the series an audiovisual training school will be implemented by the Collectivité of St Martin and SXM ARTISTS. These trainings will be open to the youth and anyone interested by the audiovisual sector. It is important to mention that registrants will quickly have the opportunity to apply the knowledge they have acquired in training as the series’ set will also be their training grounds. Training considered are: actor, cameraman, sound engineer, makeup artist, hairdressing, drone pilot etc ...
