Election fever heating up in Dominica with citizens set to go to the polls on December, 8th, 2014.

MNI Alive Media asks the question in light of recent statements made last night on the campaign trail in Dominica; what is it with some Caribbean political parties seeking to keep their manifestos a national secret?

Dominica's incumbent Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit spoke recently about his political challengers, United Workers Party (UWP), as he addressed thousands of supporters at the launch of his party's 2014 Manifesto on Thursday. Prime Minister Skerrit stated on the UWP Manifesto issue; “That is what I have been telling you for so many years that Linton is a fraud, a political fraud and there is no way we can elect Lennox Linton as Prime Minister of Dominica…..in 1957 and 1961 Labour had a manifesto and you telling me in the second decade of the twenty-first century, with all the brains that they say they have in UWP, you cannot put a manifesto together?”

Lennox Linton, leader of the UWP responded stating that the Prime Minister's statement is “a total, absolute lie.”

He further stated; “It is a concoction photoshopped by the IT warfare experts within the Labour Party (DLP) being paid for by the treasury of Dominica, the poor people’s money.” Linton stated. “What they did was they photoshopped a page using imagery from our webpage and they paste some nonsensical thing about we are not having a manifesto because it is still in production or some sort of nonsense.”

The UWP Leader made it clear that the UWP will be launching its manifesto in the week of November 24.
