The citizens of a town in Bulgaria are so disgusted with local politicians that they have entered a Donkey, named Marko, to contest the upcoming October 23 Mayoral elections. This one made the MNI Alive news desk have a good chuckle, so we thought we would share it with you!

The Donkey being entered for office goes by the name of Marko. Residents deem Marko to be more suitable than the current crop of candidates, who are felt not to be representing the interests of the people efficiently.

One gentleman, who goes by the name of Angel Dyankov, when asked about the choice of the Donkey as a candidate, responded:

'Unlike the other mayor candidates and politicians, the Donkey has a strong character, doesn't steal, doesn't lie, and gets work done.'

Another voter commented, "Let the residents draw the line and decide who has more positive qualities - the donkey or the incumbent Mayor?"

Those are very stern and angry comments from Bulgarian voters regarding the representation that is lacking in their community by the elected political leadership. The point though has been made; a Donkey is preferable over spineless and rudderless political leadership.

Do you feel that some Caribbean countries should perhaps consider following this drastic action to illustrate political frustration with their leaders?

Now what if Marko actually got elected?

Even as I am writing, I am still laughing!
