The CFA U14 Tournament, will see 6 groups, each comprising of 5 players, competing, using the Round Robin Format, where each team will have an opportunity to play one match against the other teams within the same group.

CFA has appointed Mr. Patrick Beckles of Barbados as the Project Manager for both the boys U14 and CFA women’s tournaments. Mr. Beckles is working closely with Ms. Latoya DaCosta, Senior Manager of Competitions and Events for CONCACAF.

Each Participating Member Association, is responsible for covering the cost of travel to the tournament, while CFA will provide accommodation, ground transportation and meals for all teams and officials.

President of MFA, Mr. Vincent Cassell, believes, that this U14 tournament will allow the Association to assess its youth development program and see how the program can be tweaked and improved, to better cater to the needs of the youths. MFA is certain, that after this tournament, Montserrat will be in a better position to evaluate its ability to compete in upcoming international football competitions, since it is expected that the coach and players will have a chance to identify any possible weak areas, highlighted during the matches.

Montserrat Football Association has been preparing its youths for these events through its robust Youth Development Program. The program comprises of two groups: the Grass Root Group, which includes both boys and girls ages 7 to 12 and the Elites Group, which covers children over the age of 12.

Outside of the regular practice times, which are Monday, Wednesday, Saturday for the Grass Roots and Tuesday, Thursday, Friday for the Elites, these football enthusiasts, are able to utilize the mini football fields, in Salem and Lookout, to further enhance their skills.

Parents of selected players, have indicated their pleasure in the opportunities afforded by MFA, in not just providing a consistent, reliable local after school football program for their children, but in giving them a chance at experiencing a regional competition.

The Boys U14 Tournament will take place at the St. Kitts Warner Park Sporting Complex and Montserrat is expected to play its first match against Dominica on Saturday August 4, at 2pm.
