It was announced today that The Government of Montserrat this week, on the 29th April, signed the Montserrat Capital Investment Programme for Resilient Economic Growth (CIPREG) programme for £30 Million.

The CIPREG according to information shared with the media is meant to support economic growth on Montserrat.

The Premier of Montserrat, Donaldson Romeo, previously stated that the Budget Speech had been delayed due to other matters in the signing of not only the CIPREG, but also the Financial Aid MOU.

Accordingly, MNI understands that both have now been agreed upon with The Department for International Development (DFID).

The Financial Aid Memorandum of Understanding is expected to be signed in the next couple of days.

Once these are completed, it is expected that the budget reading will take place on May 15th, where the public will receive more details of the settlements for Financial Aid, and the details of the five year CIPREG Programme.

MNI will be keeping abreast of both.
