Connie Thiessen, a reporter for Broadcast Magazine has filed a story with Broadcast Dialogue that says that FM station G-98.7 has been purchased by Mississauga broadcaster Neeti P. Ray. He owns and operates multi-cultural stations CINA-FM in Windsor and CINA 1650 AM in Mississauga. The two stations air programming in a variety of language including: Assyrian, Cantonese, Hindi, Serbian, Spanish and Ukrainian. According to Wikipedia 80% of their daily programming is in Arabic.

According to the reporter's news story "Intercity Broadcasting Network (IBN) will continue to manage and operate the station, under the supervision of the receiver. In the meantime, Ray has put up $250,000 in interim financing. As outlined in a court filing by receiver A. Farber & Partners, the winning bid includes a written commitment to continue to operate the station “in a manner consistent with the mandate to serve the Caribbean and African communities of Toronto with its spoken word and music format.”

If the court turns down Ray's offer, second in line to get the Black radio station is Whiteoaks Communications Group Limited, which operates faith-based stations in Oakville.

Apparently no Black-owned bidders stepped forward during the summer long search for a purchaser of the station.
