Russell Alexander Collaborative Family Lawyers has extended the application deadline for its annual scholarship for students interested in studying the law.
Since 2017, the Russell Alexander Law Scholarship has been given each year to a student with an interest in joining or studying the legal profession to offset the high costs of a law education as well as support the legal field in Canada. The new deadline to apply for the scholarship is Sunday, July 31.
“One of our favorite things to do each year is read the essays that students interested in the law submit for this scholarship,” said founder Russell Alexander. “We wanted to give students a little more time to turn in their entries this year.”
The scholarship is open to Canadian students with a grade average of 80 percent or higher and an interest in joining the legal community and/or studying law. They must be enrolling in post-secondary schooling in the fall of 2022.
Along with basic information about their educational record, applicants are asked to submit an essay of no more than 1,000 words on one of two subjects included on the application form.
The recipient will receive up to $2,000 for tuition and a $500 bonus towards the cost of school supplies such as a new laptop, printer, or notebooks.
“The costs of education keep rising, so we wanted to make sure that our scholarship doesn’t just cover tuition,” added Alexander. “We hope that this scholarship can help defray the costs of joining the legal profession and ensure that it remains open to everyone.”
