The long UK border control lines were criss-crossed
Moving like cold thick molasses as time passed
Loss of a loved one is the reason to be here
A slow molasses flowing twirling stream to nowhere
Forms completed and I’m in the queue
It’s customs and immigration, then truth is due

In times like these the eyes peel and the mind roams
The simplistic truth is I’m here to send my sister home
Roaming eyes and idle mind needs to be occupied
Yet amidst this twirling line the eye encounters a silhouette
Painted on jeans and a white curved form fitting t-shirt ahead
It was as easy on the eye as butter on hot bread
The twirling lines had us passing, soon we were flirting
Without an utterance body language used winking and smiling

Her JETS t-shirt already crossed the line for I’m a Patriots fan
Rivalry, I’m donning a patriots hoody but she is a gorgeous one
Body of a cheerleader, smile that had me anticipating the next turn
At baggage we conversed, exchanged digits planned for London
She’s a professional dancer heading for a performance
I’m in need of a refreshing controversial friendly voice, not romance
Outside a cold atmosphere even with snowflakes and a deceased
We set a date till after the funeral for a touchdown she teased

How can life be so uncontrollable, so insensitive
With all the pain and misery - now this rival - beautiful and seductive
Who needs more confusion when hell is in shambles
Maybe the deterrence aids the relevance or this fun is a gamble
But the bone chilling streets of London is no lookout village
The joy that is offered to channel my grief maybe a mirage
Though the casket carries only a body in the chilling earth beneath
I’ll forfeit ten offers and fifty guarantees to see my sister breathe
